Prepping for the Spring Skin

I don't know if it's just me, but I always get horribly dry skin in the winter. As we move into the spring months, I'm still working on battling the damage winter left. Obviously drinking a ton of water is the key to making sure your skin is hydrated all the time, but when you are in dire need of a quick and soothing treatment, try out some of these methods!

Lips

One of the first steps to keeping healthy lips, is to exfoliate. Your lips need to be exfoliated as much as the rest of your body, maybe even more so. There are a lot of beauty brands that sell lip exfoliator, but you can make some of your own at home!

Mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Apply mixture to your lips and rub together. This will remove any dead skin and moisturize at the same time.

Face

Having moisturized and healthy skin on your face will make things a lot easier for you. Think about it. You have unhealthy and dry skin, so you apply more lotions, chemicals and makeup to cover it up. What you're really doing is adding to the problem. The chemicals and makeup dry out your skin more, and what's worse, clog your pores and leave more bacteria on your face than before.

Try giving yourself a "no chemical and no makeup" day. Maybe you have the day off work and are getting some house work done. Set a goal for yourself to drink at least 64 ounces of water that day. This will help hydrate your body and, in turn, your skin. Wash your face in the morning with warm water, but don't use face wash or an exfoliator.

Mid-day, make yourself a fresh fruit face mask by mashing two kiwis and combine with 2 tablespoons of honey. This will moisturize your face without the added unnecessary chemicals.

Body

Have I mentioned yet that drinking water is the best thing for your skin? Well, if it hasn't registered yet, DRINK WATER FOR HEALTHY SKIN! If you DO drink plenty of water, but still suffer from "Winter Dry Skin" try out this skin therapy.

Exfoliating your skin regularly will remove any dead skin cells and help others to grow in an healthy and normal way. When you don't exfoliate your skin, your dead skin cells "crowd" the new regenerating cells and cause your skin to continue to produce bacteria. This will cause dry skin and body acne. In turn, moisturizing your skin keeps it soft and smooth and will help ward off premature wrinkles.

Exfoliator.
Salt or Sugar Body Scrub: Pour ¼ cup of table salt or granulated sugar into a small bowl or container. Pour olive oil into the container over the salt until it covers the salt. Stir the mixture. Rub the scrub all over your body and into your skin. Rinse thoroughly.

Moisturizer
1 cup quick cooking oatmeal, 6 tbsps honey & plain yogurt each, 2 egg white, and 1 cup of hot water. Mix water and oatmeal. Set aside and allow to cool and thicken while you blend the rest of the ingredients together. Combine the two mixtures and blend well. Apply the mixture to body and let sit for 15 minutes.

I hope these tricks will help shed the winter skin and get you prepared your sexy spring skin! What do you think of these tricks? Do you have any great tips for healthy skin?
