So long... For now

There are a lot of exciting things happening for "O, Human Holiday!" as of late. We can't wait to tell you all about them. The problem is, it's going to have to wait. In fact, it's going to have to wait a while. Probably close to 6 months. Until then Danni and I have to sign off, but we plan on coming back with guns blazin!

Thank you to our loyal readers! We love you!!

Makeup Trends - The 90's

Nirvana. Black nail polish. Slicked back hair. Combat boots.

Depending on what part of the 80's you were born in, you probably rocked a bit of the grunge in the 90's. Maybe you could relate more to being a preteen then and your style consisted of plastic choker, Delia's daisy purses and jellies. Well, fear not. You have a chance to rock it again!

We're seeing a lot of trends for the fall, but one of the biggest is directly related to my personal favorite...the 90's. Everywhere you look there's a crop top and platform shoes. Heck, even overalls are coming back! But what about the makeup? Check out some of my favorites for this fall with these chic 90's inspired looks.
Perfectly lined dark red lips and gloomy eyes

Smudged grey eyeliner and perfect pale skin
Love this dark plum lip and nude eye. Perfect balance and totally grunge!

Bold eyebrows are a must have! Smokey eyeliner
and a bold lip will keep everything balanced.

The Messy Look

If I've learned anything the past couple of weekends, it's been how to fall in love with the "un-done" hair look. After spending the weekend camping 2 weeks ago (it went great by the way) and this past weekend spending all my time outside (in the heat) for LouFest music festival, I'd say I've mastered the look.

You can take the look one or two different ways, and I've done both!

1. Messy Up-do
For me, this meant throwing my curly mop up into a messy top-knot. To keep the style together and still give my hair texture, I...

Started with a little styling cream
Let my hair air dry
Added a light hairspray to help keep from frizzing in the hot breeze
Tied it up with a hair tie

These girls know exactly what I'm talkin' about.

 2. Let it fly
The second version of the messy look, is to just let your hair fall where it may! I completely respect the woman who can pull off this look and still look 100% put together. I'm still working on it, but my hair is naturally curly and tends to get large and frizzy if I don't tame it somehow. To help achieve this look you can...

Spray hair with sea-salt spray or texture spray while it's wet
Let it air dry
Note: Make sure you let your hair air dry with your part in the correct place. There's nothing worse than having to try to work around a bad part.

Or my method

Throw in some anti-frizz styling mousse or creme
Let air dry while periodically grabbing hair in medium to large pieces, twisting and twirling hair through the fingers. This keeps my curl in tact and aids in the non-frizzing process.

Phillip Lim for Target

I love designer clothing...Actually, let me rephrase.  I love looking/lusting over designer clothing. If I'm in the store browsing, I always manage to pick up the most expensive item without looking at the price tag-- It never fails.  This is because with high price comes higher quality, more unique designs, and better fit for the most part.  Granted there are many reasonably priced designs that are just as great, but you get my point :).  Well, good news for me and my designer loving fashionistas.  Target has done it again- this time with one of my favorites, Phillip Lim.  I love the fact that these designers are able to have their pieces in places like Target so the everyday consumer is able to have access to these great designs.  Yes, they arent the same quality- but they are still great designs.  Phillip Lim has designed both men and women's fashions for his Target line.  The designs are more simplistic, but they still have that edge to each design.  It is a more modern collection- Im loving the men's collection.  It's the perfect combination between fashion and comfort- Win, win.  The designs hit stores September 19th, so let the countdown begin!

Threefloor Clothing

I came across the line, THREE FLOOR fashion, when looking at one of my favorite fashion blogs, Sea of Shoes.  It is safe to say I want every piece!  The brand started in November or 2011 and has since grew because of its amazing/unique designs.  The brands creative director, Han Chong, looked at fashion bloggers and street style to inspire his collection.  The "effortless" look without being too "mainstream".  The designs are definately fashion forward, but are never too trendy or too Lady Gaga-esque, if that makes sense. The cut of each dress, the amazing texture of the knitwear, and the fact that each piece has the perfect amount of edge has me hooked. What do you think- would you sport these designs?

Syd is goin' camping...

I've always thought of myself as a down-to-earth, pretty spontaneous, slightly adventurous and usually up for anything, kind of a girl! Until my boyfriend asked me if I've ever gone camping. My answer, as embarrassing as it is for me to admit, was "You mean like in a tent?"...Judging by the look on his face, I could tell he was holding back the judgement and simply and sweetly replied "Yes, dear."

Next thing I know, we're planning a camping trip for this weekend. Where we're going to fish. And cook our food on a fire. And sleep in a tent. On the ground. I'm excited about it. I really am.

Hopefully we know eachother well enough now for you to visualize my next move...Yup...Google

"What to do while camping"
"What should I wear on a camping trip?"
"How much should I pack for camping?"
"How to pitch a tent"
"What should I do if my boyfriend wants me to go explore a cave with him and we get bitten by a snake?"

Okay, I didn't Google that last one, but you get the point.

For my time and your attention span's sake, I'm only going to review one of the things I researched. "What should I wear on a camping trip?" (How did you guess that would be the one?!?)

1. Wear Light Layers and nothing fuzzy:
The season you go camping in is definitely going to determine your wardrobe choice. For something at the end of summer, light layers is the best way to go. A t-shirt with a long sleeve flannel on top, is a great way to keep protected from the elements but comfortable.

A lot of people said the best pants to wear, believe it or not, is YOGA PANTS (YES!!!) They're lightweight, but provide warmth and protection from bugs and sticks. They're comfortable if a hike is planned or when you're ready for bed.

Don't forget the high socks and thick boots!

Pretty darn cute.

What To Wear: Going Camping
Thank you someone from www.thesweetestoccasion.com for
reading my mind.

2. Don't wear any perfume or scented hair products
Bugs are attracted to scents! Simple as that!

3. Dry Shampoo
You may want to come to terms with the fact that you may not be showering for a couple of days. Dry Shampoo can be a great way to refresh your hair without the use of water.

4.  Makeup Choices
The whole point of camping is to get in touch with nature and enjoy the great outdoors, right? Do your best to nix the makeup (if I can survive a day or two, so can you). But if necessary, look for things with minimal scent, high SPF, lightweight and waterproof. The less products you pack, the better. I think every girl should be able to get away with these 3 products.

Love my Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
SPF 30, great coverage and super light.
Burt's Bees Sun Protecting Lip Balm will do the trick.
Great for moisture in the elements.
L'oreal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara.
Kind of a God-Send

Here goes nothin'!! Do you have any camping trips planned for this summer or fall?! Tell us how they go in the comments below.

VMA Fashion!

I guess it would be safe to say that typically the MTV Video Music Awards aren't usually the most "high-fashion" and "ultra-classy" affair. You have to hand it to the vast majority of celebs, however. It's definitely their night to go a little crazy and their outfits absolutely showcase that.

My favorite thing to see, however, is the stars who don't change their look JUST to go along with the crazy evening. My votes go for the ones who kept it classy, but still rocked a little edge.

Here is just a handful of some of my favorites of the night...

Is it really Gaga?

Say what you want about her music, style and celebrity status, Lady Gaga knows how to be one-of-a-kind. She's developed the reputation of always keeping the public guessing. Her platform has always been "be yourself, no matter who you are". There's something to be said for that, isn't there? Even if she tends to go way past what most constitute as "normal", we still love her.

But wait, is that her? She looks amazing! That's right, ladies and gents. Gaga can dress "normal" when she wants to, and she looks gorgeous. Check out some of these more "normal" Gaga styles. You'll be wanting to dress like her in no time.

Not formal, but really?? She's wearing an oversized button-down shirt
and she looks awesome in it!

Still true to herself, but that dress is killer.

Wish List: BCBG

I recently made a trip to Frontenac to stop by BCBG and realized why I've tried to stay away from that store for a while now.  I want everything in that store but unfortunately, my wallet does not agree wtih that.  So, I did some online shopping of my current wishlist for my future Fall wardrobe.  They have some amazing new items perfect for transitioning into Fall.  Check out my picks and more here.

Danni/O, Human Holiday!

Grant Fringed Leather Jacket- This jacket would pretty much go with everything.  I would somehow make this work with all of my Fall outfits.  Pair with a chic black dress, or go more casual with jeans, heels, and a white or black tee.  The fringe detail on the side adds the perfect amount of edge!

Runway Carson Leather Short- These shorts are completely versatile.  I feel you can wear these with a simple tee, or dress them up with a blazer and nice top for a more sophisticated approach.  Perfect for cooler weather.

Elista High Heel Sandal- OK so these arent exactly "Fall" shoes, but I had to post them.  How amazing are these.  They also come in a Tan color.  Perfect for Summer and Spring.  These would definatley be the perfect statement piece.  I would pair these with a printed midi dress or black shorts and white button up for a more casual appraoch.  Depending on how high they go on the ankle, cuffed jeans and a tee/blazer would also be amazing!

Luca Pleather Pull Over-- This entire outfit.  The pull over, the pants, the shoes= Perfect.  I would add some gold jewlelry and wear this on a night out!  I think with the right accessories this can be the perfect look for a night on the town.  Pair the pull over with a printed pencil skirt and ankle boots for a completely different look!  I can even see it with distressed jean shorts and heels for an edgier approach.

"If You've Got it Flaunt it"

I came across this picture of Amanda Seyfried this morning and ablsolutely loved her look.  She wore this sheer vintage style Gucci dress to the Lovelace Premiere in London.  The blue sequened midi dress looks amazing and I love the sheer skirt which shows off her amazing legs.  In my opinion, this look would be hard to pull off for just any occasion.  I've found a few similar looks worn by Kristen Stewart at the Breaking Dawn Premeire and a couple street style looks.  Its a little risque for my taste, but who knows! All of these ladies definately have the bods to rock this sheer look.  What do you think about this sheer trend- risky business or fashionably chic?
