Sweet Transitions

This past week was a bit on the crazy side. Weather in the 70's and high 60's...IN JULY?! I like that kind of summer. Although it's starting to heat back up again a bit, last week forced me to start thinking about my September wardrobe. Why September? It's probably the most difficult of months to dress in. Some day's it's warm, some day's it's cool and your wardrobe might have a hard time keeping up!

Here are some great Summer to Fall transitional outfits that will help you navigate the roller-coaster month.

Lightweight Long-Sleeved Tops
Breathable Maxi-Skirts
Mix your summer shorts with a cute sweater and boots
Midi skirts in fun colors paired with a jacket or light sweater is a perfect transition.
Add a cute blazer or cardi to your summer dress
for a little warmth! This bright color is perfect
for the summer/fall transition.

Harem Pants--Man Repeller?

Harem Pants.  These can go one of two ways- either cute and fashionable or an easy way out from getting guys attention at bars.  According to the man repeller, Harem pants are just that.
man·re·pell·er1  [mahn-ree-peller–noun

outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive mode that may result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.

–verb (used without object),-pell·ing, -pell·ed.
to commit the act of repelling men:
Girl 1: What are you wearing tonight?
Girl 2: My sweet lime green drop crotch utility pants, of course.
Girl 1: Oh, so we’re man repelling tonight?

In my opinion, Harem pants can be a very comfortable, yet fashionable approach to creating the perfect outfit.  Pair with heels and flattering top.  They can't completely ruin the outfit, can they?  They may not be the most flattering choice of pants in a man's opinion, but I think they are completely chic.  Nicole Richie stated on Candidly Nicole when trying to find her friend a first date outfit that there are outfits for your girls, and your guy.  Harem pants are for your girls according to Nicole.  I say find a guy that knows his fashion and you can be chic no matter who you're with :)

The Art of Kissing

1. An act of kissing puts 29 facial muscles in motion

2. A quick romantic kiss will burn about 2-3 calories, whereas a French Kiss will obliterate more than 5 calories

3. Sensitivity of the lips is 200 times higher than that of the fingers.

4. It is thought that men who kiss their wives goodbye before going to work live five years longer than those who just slam the door. Men of the latter category are said to be more prone to traffic accidents

5. On the average, a person spends 20,160 minutes (two weeks) of her life on kissing.

6. Scientific tests show that good kissing helps reduce dermatitis, skin rashes and blemishes. It also makes your skin glow and your eyes shine.

Did you know this? Neither did I! There are hundreds of books, websites, articles, reviews, studies and even scientific experiments, about kissing and the effects it has on the human body. Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself. Not only do they study the body, but just as many people write tutorials on how to teach you to be the best kisser!

Okay, so it isn't rocket science, but many times fellas and ladies alike start to forget the basics. Fresh breath and smooth lips!

Here are some tips before you jump back into your next kiss-capade.

1. Exfoliate your Lips regularly: Especially in the summer, with the heat and the dry weather, lips are usually one of the first things to dry and crack. This leaves behind flaky, dry skin and NO ONE wants to kiss that!!

Combine 2tbs of granulated sugar, 1tbs of honey and a couple drops of olive oil in a bowl. Slather mixture onto your lips and rub together, or gently scrub with the tips of your fingers in circular motions.

2. Moisturize daily: On top of your normal skin-care routine, throughout the day make sure to keep your lips moisturized. I typically say that natural lip balms are the way to go. A lot of the time, the store-bought kind has ingredients in them that tend to dry you lips out more, and wind up getting you addicted to the stuff! Great marketing for them to keep you buying their product, but not so great for your poor chapped lips (and your significant other).

If you CAN make your own, that's great, but here are some of my favorite drug store balms that I've had great success with.

1. Best for Everyday Use: EOS Smooth Sphere

2. Best for Sun Protection – Nivea A Kiss of Protection

3. Best for Long Lasting Moisture: Nivea Lip Butter (My personal fav)

4. Best for a moisture with tint and shine: Smith's Rosebud Salve or Maybelline Baby Lips

I hope this help keep those smackers smooth! Now get to kissin'!!

Ode to the T-Shirt

I always joke to my boyfriend saying "I'll be cute again in the fall". I always have the hardest time with summer clothes, and most of the time I end up wearing things completely out of season because it's what I feel most comfortable in. No, I don't really think that means my wardrobe isn't cute during the summer, but as it heats up I begin to care less about my wardrobe and more about comfort. Does anyone else experience this? It usually hits me around the end of July (guess where we are?) The heat starts to get to me, and all I want is baggy t-shirts and skinny jeans.

When I was growing up and especially as I ventured into a love for fashion, I always thought that t-shirts and jeans were what you wore to clean the house and run errands. For most of my life I wouldn't be caught dead in a t-shirt. To this day all my t-shirts (mostly sentimental or too difficult to part with) keep folded up in the back of my closet. Until now. I've become older, more mature and started to realize how unbelievably sexy t-shirts and jeans can be. A girl who can relax and be comfortable and confident in her casual clothes, is the kind of girl I want to be.

Here are a few T-Shirt brands and designs that I've fallen in love with. Like what you see? Comment below!

Truly Madly Deeply is by far my favorite t-shirt brand.
I own about 5 different colors and styles.
The V-Necks are perfect and the Crew necks are comfortable.
Perfect oversized t-shirt brand.
Love the simplicity of this graphic tee
It's not overwhelming but gives the look a little character
This tee has got the edge
I love that it has an effortless look and can be thrown
on without any thought having to be put into
accessorizing.

I mean, if Beyonce likes it?
I'm falling more and more in love with crop tops.
Throw on a high waisted maxi-skirt or some cut-off shorts and call it a day!
When it comes to tees, it's hard to go wrong with vintage classics.
I love all of the individual looks, they're sexy without being
too high maintenance. Each tee can be accessorized
to match each person's style. Love these looks.

Cuticle Art

Could it be the new big thing? Rad Nails has come out with a new collection called "Beyond Nail Tattoos". Essentially a temporary tattoo that is placed at the base of the nail bed to create cuticle art. Although these look pretty cool, I wonder how long they last? I particularly like the pink nail and tattoo to match.

What do you think of this new trend?

Style Stalk: Zoe Saldana

I've had a major style/girlcrush on Zoe Saldana for a while now.  After listening to some of her interviews, not only is she an amazing style icon-- but she is a very powerful and completley independent woman.  Her style reflects her very relaxed way of life- very laid back but sophisticated and strong at the same time.  I am convinced she can pull of any style she wanted, and I feel she experiements especially on red carpets.  She never plays it completely safe and always has a dramatic edge to her red carpet looks which I love.  A girl after my own fashion heart.

Pump It Up

I'm all about experimenting with colors and taking risks with your looks--especially for a night out.  I don't like to be too matchy-matchy or "safe".  I always like to have an interesting piece or addition to my outift whether it be with an accessory or playing with patterns & colors.  I've found three amazing, yet differnt dresses perfect for a night out.  I've paired five very different heels with all three of the outfits.  In my opinion, I think all five of these shoes look amazing with each dress.  With the right accessories to bring the colors together, each of these could be perfect.  A simple black pump is a safe choice..but its always more fun to add some color!

OHH Trend Sundays!

Happy Sunday!! It's hard to believe its already mid July! The summer is flying by. This week Syd and I decided to create looks incorporating the high/low skirt trend.  In my opinion,  high/low skirts and dresses add a touch of sophistication and elegance to your look.  They can be dressed up or down for day or evening look.  Syd paired her skirt with a grey cotton tee, gold flats and gold accent jewelry--A perfect day look.  I've paired my dress with black ankle strap flats, and a blue stone necklace--Pair with some high heels and a clutch and you're ready for a night out.

Skater Girl

Comfort is always a factor in my everyday style.  While I love wearing heels, sometimes your feet just need a break.  I'm not talking flats here either, Im talking comfy tennis shoes.  Unfortunately, I've found it difficult to match my style with my favorite New Balance sneakers :).  Much to my surprise, as I was looking online I came across Madwells Fall/Winter 2013 lookbook.  I immediately looked at the models chic ensemble..then I saw her shoes.  Slip on skater shoes?!  These were some of my go-to shoes in High School back when my style had more of a punk edge.  Looking at these outfits, its easy to see them paired with a more sophisticated look while still remaining comfortable throughout the day.  Vans has quite the collection.  I'm pretty sure Ive seen a Hello Kitty pair I could incorporate. What do you think--Will you be rocking some skater shoes with your looks?
