6 Hot Weather Hair and Makeup Tips

We've been told that this summer isn't going to be the worst we've had, but if it's anything like last year with the 3 straight months of unruly heat, we're going to need to prepare ourselves!

Although it may still be difficult to control your look, there are definitely some ways to help!

Hair

Sleek Top Knot - Who's going to argue with JLaw?
Top knots are a great way to keep the hair controlled and off your neck, without having to try very hard. Her hot dress and perfect summer makeup complete the fancy/casual look.

Travel with Travel Sized Dry Shampoo
When you know you'll be out in the heat for a while (News flash: With heat, comes sweat), you can plan ahead by buying a travel sized dry shampoo to keep in your purse. As dry shampoo becomes more popular for the ever-day hair pick-me-up, companies are starting to do an amazing job at perfecting it. You can find odorless, colorless sprays that will help soak up any oils and moisture in your hair.

Protect and Defend
More often than not, during the summer, hair starts to dry out because of the harsh sun or even chlorine from the pool. Taking care of your hair in the summer is much more vital than other months in the year. Not only does drinking tons of water during the summer help your overall health and skin, but your hair will thank you too. Always shampoo with a clarifying shampoo after you get out of the pool. Chlorine has a great habit of soaking into your sponge-like hair and drying it out and discoloring it. Take care of those locks!

Face

Lighten Up
One amazing thing about summer, is that once your skin has been sunkissed (or even before) a lot less makeup is required to look your best. Instead of using heavy foundations, try a tinted moisturizer with an SPF to protect your skin and help give you a flawless face. I've been really loving Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream. Great coverage, great price and lighter than air.

Stay Fresh
With makeup on your face, and as sweat builds up throughout the day, bacteria does as well. It's so important to make sure you wash your face every night, but especially during the summer. Cleansing away all the bacteria from your pores will help keep your skin healthy and blemish free. You can even keep a package of your favorite makeup remover cloth brand in your purse to keep your face fresh throughout the day. I really love the Yes to Blueberries brand. It smells great, has anti-aging ingredients, very moisturizing and isn't harsh on my skin.

Keep it On
Along with the tinted moisturizer, continue the look with some smudge proof and water proof products. I love the Maybelline Color Tattoo eye-shadows (No, I'm not sponsored by Maybelline I just tend to really love their products!) These cream eye-shadows come in some amazing colors, don't require a lot of work and last all day. They're smudge proof and water proof to boot. The brighter colors are great for summer. Some days, I'll just throw on the gold with some waterproof black mascara and call it a day! I'll also grab a tiny bit of the gold with my pinky and dab some on my cheek bones and up through just below my temples to create a great highlight and faux summer glow.

As always, Don't forget to drink tons of water and wear sunscreen this summer! Protect your skin. Protect your body.

  1. Love these! Dry shampoo is my best friend in the summer. Also, Urban Decay makes a De-slick mattifying powder that is awesome on particularly hot days!
