Pump It Up

I'm all about experimenting with colors and taking risks with your looks--especially for a night out.  I don't like to be too matchy-matchy or "safe".  I always like to have an interesting piece or addition to my outift whether it be with an accessory or playing with patterns & colors.  I've found three amazing, yet differnt dresses perfect for a night out.  I've paired five very different heels with all three of the outfits.  In my opinion, I think all five of these shoes look amazing with each dress.  With the right accessories to bring the colors together, each of these could be perfect.  A simple black pump is a safe choice..but its always more fun to add some color!

OHH Trend Sundays!

Happy Sunday!! It's hard to believe its already mid July! The summer is flying by. This week Syd and I decided to create looks incorporating the high/low skirt trend.  In my opinion,  high/low skirts and dresses add a touch of sophistication and elegance to your look.  They can be dressed up or down for day or evening look.  Syd paired her skirt with a grey cotton tee, gold flats and gold accent jewelry--A perfect day look.  I've paired my dress with black ankle strap flats, and a blue stone necklace--Pair with some high heels and a clutch and you're ready for a night out.

Skater Girl

Comfort is always a factor in my everyday style.  While I love wearing heels, sometimes your feet just need a break.  I'm not talking flats here either, Im talking comfy tennis shoes.  Unfortunately, I've found it difficult to match my style with my favorite New Balance sneakers :).  Much to my surprise, as I was looking online I came across Madwells Fall/Winter 2013 lookbook.  I immediately looked at the models chic ensemble..then I saw her shoes.  Slip on skater shoes?!  These were some of my go-to shoes in High School back when my style had more of a punk edge.  Looking at these outfits, its easy to see them paired with a more sophisticated look while still remaining comfortable throughout the day.  Vans has quite the collection.  I'm pretty sure Ive seen a Hello Kitty pair I could incorporate. What do you think--Will you be rocking some skater shoes with your looks?

Style Crush: Julia Sarr-Jamois

I've seen pictures of Julia, not knowing exactly who she was and immediately fell in love with her effortless style.  Her crazy curls, knack for mixing prints, and pulling off the most daring looks with such confidnece makes her my current style crush.  Come to find out, this London based girl is the fashion editior of Wonderland Magazine.  She started in the fashion industry as a model (of course, shes a complete beauty!), but felt she wanted a more creative outlook into fashion.  That is when she started styling..and the rest is history.  What do you think of her looks--Crush worthy? I thought so too. :)

OHH Trend Sundays: Style Stalk

Happy Sunday Funday!

Who are we stalking today? None other than model, writer and TV personality, Alexa Chung. Known for her modeling career and amazing style, this girl knows how to do summer right! With a fun, girly, yet edgy look, she really knows how to wear the clothes and not let the clothes wear her.

With her beautiful and effortless hair and makeup, she really completes her summer looks. These are some perfect examples of a great summer style that are cute but not too difficult to achieve in this hot St. Louis weather.

What do you think of Alexa Chung's style?

DIY 4th Shorts

The 4th of July is just around the corner, and if you're like me, most of the day will be spent outside. Luckily this 4th is supposed to be gorgeous with the highs in the 80's, but as we all know well, Missouri weather is an evil minx that can't seem to make up her mind.

To still look put-together, but fit for the summer weather, here are some great DIY ideas for your festive 4th fashion.

Let me know what you think! What are your go-to 4th outfit?

I hope you have a safe and happy 4th of July!

I'm in love with these lace details! This kind of lace can be bought cheaply at any fabric store. Cut a little piece out of the side of the denim cut-offs and overlap with the lace. You can sew it on if your handy with a needle, or if you plan on throwing something together specifically for your 4th outfit, some drops of hot-melt glue will keep it in place for the day.
The 4th of July Staple is really the flag shorts! Make yourself a star stencil if you're not great at perfect star shapes. The one thing that will make these look great, is the perfect shapes and straight lines. Masking tape, some white and red paint, and you're set!

Add character to simple cut-off shorts, by scalloping the edges instead of cutting straight across.

DIY Sharpie Shorts: That's right! These bleached denim shorts got their tribal print character with a little time and a great Sharpie marker. Use this pattern to create the same look, or come up with one on your own! This may become the staple for my 4th of July outfit. :)
