Falling From Summer

Last week, Syd did a post on "Sweet Transitions" talking about how to transition your Summer wardrobe into Fall.  This week, I decided to focus on one of my favorite Summer staples, and how to carry that into my Fall wardrobe-- The printed mini.  It is such a versatile piece no matter what season, but it can be hard to figure out how to wear it in cooler weather.  My first look pairs the skirt with a white cropped top, ankle wedges, and a fun clutch.  I've added the hat to both looks (I love wearing hats all year round!) The second look pairs a cozy grey sweater, fun socks, and black ankle boots.  For me, theres no such thing as Fall wardrobe and Summer wardrobe--pair the cropped tank with a fun jacket for a night out even when the leaves start falling.  Make the most of your wardrobe and wear your favorite pieces all year round!

Harem Pants--Man Repeller?

Harem Pants.  These can go one of two ways- either cute and fashionable or an easy way out from getting guys attention at bars.  According to the man repeller, Harem pants are just that.
man·re·pell·er1  [mahn-ree-peller–noun

outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive mode that may result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.

–verb (used without object),-pell·ing, -pell·ed.
to commit the act of repelling men:
Girl 1: What are you wearing tonight?
Girl 2: My sweet lime green drop crotch utility pants, of course.
Girl 1: Oh, so we’re man repelling tonight?

In my opinion, Harem pants can be a very comfortable, yet fashionable approach to creating the perfect outfit.  Pair with heels and flattering top.  They can't completely ruin the outfit, can they?  They may not be the most flattering choice of pants in a man's opinion, but I think they are completely chic.  Nicole Richie stated on Candidly Nicole when trying to find her friend a first date outfit that there are outfits for your girls, and your guy.  Harem pants are for your girls according to Nicole.  I say find a guy that knows his fashion and you can be chic no matter who you're with :)

Pump It Up

I'm all about experimenting with colors and taking risks with your looks--especially for a night out.  I don't like to be too matchy-matchy or "safe".  I always like to have an interesting piece or addition to my outift whether it be with an accessory or playing with patterns & colors.  I've found three amazing, yet differnt dresses perfect for a night out.  I've paired five very different heels with all three of the outfits.  In my opinion, I think all five of these shoes look amazing with each dress.  With the right accessories to bring the colors together, each of these could be perfect.  A simple black pump is a safe choice..but its always more fun to add some color!

Casual Chic

I absolutely love this outfit on Rihanna.  So much, in fact that I attempted to re-create it using my fave- Polyvore. I'm a huge fan of taking something dressy/formal and pairing it with something more causal like a distressed jean.  There's something about mixing & matching the styles that just works.  Its also a great way to use the most of your wardrobe-dressy items arent just for formal events!  What do you think of Rihanna's look?  What is your take on mixing styles?

Style Inspo: Beyonce

I fell in love with Beyonce's outfit to Kanye West's Birthday Bash last week.  The crop top, pop of color wiht her heels, and adorable hat--just perfect.  I found her top and skirt at Topshop online, and of course it is sold out.  I figured this was a perfect opportunity to do a style inspiration post.  Put my own twist on Bey's amazing look.  I used Polyvore and created two different looks, both inspired by Beyonce.  The first look is more laid back, I paired a solid black crop top and striped shirt with fun neon heels and Chanel beanie.  Perfect look for girls night out or concert.  The second look is more classic- I paired a striped top, solid black skirt with classic black ankle strap heels.  I added some fun red accessories and cat eye sun glasses to add a touch of sophistication.  What do you think of these looks- Do you have a fave?

Fashion And The City

There's a Sex And The City marathon on today on E, which started at 7am.  Needless today, I've been less than productive this morning- unless you count being 5 episodes in as productive? Didn't think so.  I've posted a stylestalk on Carrie Bradshaw before- its obvious I absolutely love her effortless, daring style.  The dresses, matching clutches, amazing shoes--her style is so unique.  Some staples in her wardrobe include- A perfect pair of Manolos , fun printed dresses, big curls, and lots of color.  I've posted a few "Carrie inspired" looks below- complete with Manolo Blahniks :)
